Appointments

You can make an appointment by calling the practice on 01244 813340 .

We offer a range of appointments to help as many patients as we can while respecting infection control safety measures. Most of our doctors and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP) appointments are over the phone first and then according to your medical needs you may receive a phone advice, video consultation, a face to face assessment, home visit or alternative assessment will be arranged by the clinician.

After you request an appointment please be prepared for the call from a doctor/ANP/nurse anytime between 08:30 – 18:30. Please ensure we have your correct contact details and be ready to answer questions regarding your symptoms.

Patient Signposting

Please help us to help you, think before you request and appointment:

Will my symptoms go away if left for a few days?

Would a local pharmacist, optician, chiropodist or other healthcare service be a more appropriate service?

Local pharmacies run a service called Common Ailments Scheme. They can provide advice for number of minor ailments such as hayfever, indigestion, threadworm etc. Please see the pharmacy opening times list for details of local pharmacies and when they are open. Where appropriate for these conditions they can provide you with medication without a need of a prescription from a GP. This service is free of charge.

When requesting appointments our reception staff will ask you some questions in order to establish who is the best health professional to help you and the level of urgency.

Our receptionists are trained to find the most appropriate service and clinician to help you with your request and they may signpost you to a local pharmacy, an optician, a dentist, a hospital A&E or a minor injuries unit.

Patient confidentiality is very important to us so should you wish to speak to one of the reception staff in private rather than at the reception desk or in the waiting que, please make them aware.

In some instances where an appointment is requested to deal with an administration or medication query this can be dealt with by our administration staff without the need to make an appointment.

Same Day Appointments

Same day appointments can be requested by ringing the surgery on 01244 813340 from 08:00. Patients are asked to take into consideration that there are only a certain number of appointments available each day depending on the clinical staff on duty.

We will always endeavour to offer a same day consultation for patients under the age of 16 with acute illness or those that have been triaged as urgent.

Pre-Booked Appointments

Patients will still have the facility to pre-book a future dated appointment based on availability and the reason for the appointment. Due to high demand and our use of these appointments for necessary reviews, they are unfortunately usually booked several weeks ahead.

Saving up problems and coming with a list does not help to address your needs optimally. Please feel free to come as many times as you need. Exceptionally, we will try to accommodate your request for a double appointment if needed. Please note, you must pre-book an appointment if you are requested to see a practice nurse, or health care assistant.

Pre-booked appointments are also required for all medicals i.e. Insurance, Occupational, HGV and Taxi medicals and can be arranged with an available GP.

Preference of a Practitioner

You may request a pre-bookable appointment with a GP or ANP of your choice. Due to high demand, they are unfortunately usually booked several weeks ahead. We cannot guarantee that you request can be met.

If you request to be seen the same day, we cannot offer you to be seen by a clinician of your choice.

My Health Online

We anticipate that in the near future you will be able to make a pre-bookable appointment using My Health Online. Please complete our Register for Online Services form to use this option.

We are continuously reviewing our appointment system to ensure the best possible access for our patients and a sustainable working environment for all our staff.
